IDK Returns with “Sweet & Sour”

“Sweet & Sour” is the powerful first single from Ian Daniel Kehoe’s enigmatic avant-pop opus YVS. Drawing from the incredible eclecticism of IDK’s catalog, “Sweet & Sour” signals a refinement and maturation of his talent, in full command of his powers as a singular pop lyricist and craftsman. In a glacial funk groove punctuated by a foggy horn, Ian’s serene and philosophical lyricism explores the consequences of desire, the processes of growth and the nature of reality. In a moment of revelation, Ian sings “The light is like a living thing”, capturing both the sublime ephemerality of our world and the loneliness of arriving at a place when one knows that questions are ultimately as far as we can come. This is thoughtful and generous art-pop in the tradition of Sade’s “Stronger Than Pride” and the Pet Shop Boys’ “Please”.
