TRUMPETS OF DEATH FEATURE IN DIGITAL FIX'S END OF YEAR LIST
12/12/11
Trumpets of Death's debut record 'Teeth + Teeth = Teeths' has been named in the top 20 albums of the year by music publication Music at the Digital Fix. The list is unranked and the album sits alongside the likes of PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys and Laura Marling.
“The debut from Leeds-based folk/noise/jazz-ers Trumpets of Death is a startling and ferociously challenging work. Almost impenetrable on first listen, it opens up to reveal a sinister and enthralling world. Perhaps the most surprising album of the year, it finds its way to your very soul. It’s that rare beast - an album that gets better with every listen.” - Music at the Digital Fix top 20 albums of 2011
You can listen to tracks from the album on the bands Soundcloud page and all the other usual places. The album is available from our store and if you're Europe based and order before Monday 19th you will receive it in time for chirstmas.
DEVON SPROULE UNVEILS NEW VIDEO
01/12/11
Devon Sproule - Unmarked Animals from Anti/Type on Vimeo.
“Devon Sproule's album "I Love You, Go Easy" is one of those wordy-word albums. The singer-songwriter's unusual but transfixing voice has a lot to report, her lyrical stanzas dense against currents of a jazz horns, or pedal steel, or emotional piano lines.”
“That is to say, though, there's a lot to hear, but not too much. The sheer amount of narrative is dispersed seemingly among genres. iTunes indicates this is a country album. The opener's soft pop would say otherwise. The single "Now's the Time" sounds like Ben Kweller fronting the Flying Burrito Brothers, while the title track is an "easy" jazz tune.”
“Then there's "The Unmarked Animals," which divides its time between lounge rock and playful disco, with a slick guitar freak-out, congas, "the curvy stuff." - HitFix.com
The video for Unmarked Animals was premiered yesterday on 'Exclaim.ca' in Canada, 'HitFix.com' in the US and This is Fake DIY in the UK and Europe. Above is the video, if you haven't caught it already its mysterious and glittery with some sustained eye contact.

Devon Sproule and Paul Curreri will be hosting the very first Klub Zoo Gang. The first of these will take place at London's Cafe Oto on Friday 9th December, where new Tin Angel Records signees Two Wings will be the headline act, with Devon and Paul opening together.
Born from a songwriting collaboration between Hanna Tuulikki (Nalle, Scatter, The Family Elan) and Ben Reynolds (Baby Dee, Trembling Bells, Alasdair Roberts), Two Wings is now a quartet that features soaring female vocals, uniquely balanced harmonies, and an almost militaristic insistence on a feel-good stomp. PAUL CURRERI THE LINE OF BEST FIT
07/11/11
Paul Curreri's latest record has received praise from webzine The Line of Best Fit. Read the review below.
Paul Curreri‘s latest album might take a playground punchline for its title (Q: Where do hipster houseflies socialise?) but The Big Shitty is bristling, bold and baffling; a black-and-bluesy melange of the bullish, the buckled and the broken. This shift in sound – together with Curreri’s darkly lyrical imagery – makes an impact more redolent of the opening track from 2007′s The Velvet Rut (titled for his former hometown’s nickname) than to anything on his more recent release, California. Here, Curreri maintains the habit of placing his music but whereas California was premised on the promise of a fabled land, The Big Shitty is more congruent to the likely reality, where aspiration and goodwill are dampened in the doubt and darkness of the undertow.

CHARLIE PARR 'CHEAP WINE' PRAISE
Charlie Parr's new album Cheap Wine was released on Tin Angel on … Cheap Wine is a compilation of the best of Charlie's solo work and the first piece of work Tin Angel and Charlue have worked on together. It has received 4**** reviews from both Q Magazine and Uncut Magazine. You can read the reviews below.
Q - 4**** Charlie Parr has been the next big thing in country blues for a decade, but the guitarist and banjo plucker has struggled to make the leap out of cultdom. Cheap Wine (TIN ANGEL, ****), a compilation of 11 tracks from his five studio albums, show that the Duluth, Minnesota native's songs are about society's helpless, homeless and dispossessed are in different class – particularly the title track, recently covered by freak-folk darlings Trevor Moss And Hannah-Lou.
Uncut - 4**** Minnesota man collected Parr has been releasing enthralling albums with a minimum of fuss for the past decade. Following on from last year's gospel collaboration with The Black Twig Pickers, the terrific Cheap Wine rounds up the best of his solo work thus far. He's firmly rooted in the worried old country-blues of Mance Lipscomb and Bukka White, the songs marked by lithe finger picking, the occasional cluck of banjo and a fly-down voice to match. "1922 Blues" essays the tale of his freight-hopping father, while his startling take on "Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down" sounds genuinely unhinged.
Charlie head out on his headline UK and Europe tour tomorrow starting with a shows at London's wonderful Bush Hall venue, Charlie will be supported on tour by label mate Paul Curreri. For a full list of tour dates see our live page.
